6 Matches in the Opening of the eWAFF Invitational
The draw, which was held at the headquarters of Zain eSports – Jordan, and was transmitted directly through WAFF’s official YouTube channel, resulted in the holding of 6 matches on the first day of the invitational April 2, 2021, starting from 10:00 am until 5:30 pm (Amman time) and gathered at respectively: Kuwait and Qatar, KSA and UAE, Qatar and KSA, UAE and Kuwait, Qatar and UAE, Kuwait and KSA.
On the second day, April 3, and during the same times, 6 matches will also be played between: UAE and Qatar, KSA and Kuwait, Qatar and Kuwait, UAE and KSA, Kuwait and UAE, KSA and Qatar.
Moreover, WAFF organizes the invitational for the first time in the region in cooperation with Zain eSports – Jordan. With the participation of Saudi Arabia Football Federation, UAE Football Association, Qatar Football Association, and Kuwait Football Association, which are included on the approved FIFA list for electronic games.
A 1v1 system will be adopted in all matches, in line with FIFA’s regulation to adopt this system in the 2021 FIFAe Nations, given the current conditions in light of the Corona pandemic.
The tournament will be played in two rounds; during the first one, the participating teams are placed in one group and shall play a league system in home and away format, where each match consists of one game on PlayStation and one game on X-Box. Furthermore, the winning team gets 3 points, the tie match is 1 point, and the loss is 0 points.
Meanwhile, the second round will be held according to the final ranking of the first round, where the first ranked team plays against the second ranked team in order to determine the champion and the third ranked team plays the fourth ranked team on 3rd/4th match.
The matches of the second round will be played in best of three format, in which a winner must be determined for each match. In case of a draw, extra time will be played to decide the winner, and if the score is still a tie, the match will immediately go to a penalty shoot-out to determine the winner.
In addition, WAFF will be keen to broadcast all matches directly on its official social media pages in order to provide a platform for those interested in eGames to follow it's activities.
