WAFF began a series of administrative arrangements for holding the workshop, which will be held under the supervision of the FIFA and AFC Instructor Taleb Bin Hilal Al Thani, inviting all member associations to nominate five coaches to participate, provided that they are former players or coaches in the field of football.

Khalil Al Salem, General Secretary of WAFF, stated that the workshop comes as part of WAFF’s efforts to expand and develop its activities in the future, with the most important step being the organization of a beach soccer tournament in West Asia on an annual basis in collaboration with BSWW, and further working to implement their long-term plan so that the tournament becomes approved and a qualifier to the AFC finals.

Meanwhile, Al Salem explained that the workshop comes in line with the objectives of benefiting from the pioneering and distinctive experiences that the BSWW organization have in this field through its supervision and organization of many activities, events, and major tournaments.

From his part, Joan Cusco, President of the BSWW, stated that this workshop is the start of a series of programs to be held between BSWW and WAFF, which aims to raise the level and implementation of beach soccer in the whole West Asia region, at all levels, and expressed his confidence in the steps followed within the partnership strategy that will achieve real gains within the game.

Moreover, WAFF and BSWW had signed a 3-year collaboration agreement that includes many plans that contribute to activating beach soccer in the region, in conjunction with the implementation of various development projects, as well as creating opportunities for players, referees, staff, and coaches.

Furthermore, WAFF had previously organized its 1st WAFF Beach Soccer Championship hosted by Iran in May 2013, with the participation of 7 teams: Iran, the champion, Oman, the runner-up, and Bahrain, Qatar, Palestine, Lebanon, and Iraq.
